A new Splatfest in Splatoon 3 will be held to determine the fan-favorite starter from the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Players have previously decided what they would rather bring to a deserted island in Splatoon‘s most recent Splatfest, the ultimate result being the practical option of ‘Gear’.
Splatfests are one of, if not the biggest draw to the Splatoon games. Teams of players battle it out online in an effort to ensure their thoughts and opinions come out on top, in a hectic battle royale experience. In Splatoon 3, the Splatfests are now fought between three teams, as opposed to the previous titles’ two teams. This allows for newer and more varied questions to be posed to the playerbase, Of course, Splatfests aren’t the only way to have fun in Splatoon 3 – the game boasts several game modes, from a single-player campaign to a variety of multiplayer modes. One of these, the popular Salmon Run, may be getting some new modes of its own in the near future.
Splatoon 3’s three-way Splatfests will now play host to Pokémon fans as they prepare to answer one of the burning questions surrounding any new generation of games. As revealed by the Splatoon North America Twitter account, the next Splatfest will ask players to decide what Starter type they prefer: Grass, Fire, or Water. By extension, with this being in celebration of the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players are also being asked which of the games’ three starters they like best – Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly. The Paldean trio have already earned plenty of praise from fans, with the new starters featuring in cute Pokémon fan animations and artwork.
Pokémon SV Splatfest Indicates Splatoon 3 Might Skip Halloween
The new Splatfest is scheduled to begin on Friday, November 11, at 4 PM Pacific Time. It will run for three days, finishing at the same time on November 13. In addition, Pokémon fan site Serebii notes that fans in Japan will be able to purchase special T-Shirts from the Pokémon Center website. However, it should be noted that several Twitter users have pointed out that the description of this Splatfest states that it is the game’s “next” event. This, in turn, seems to indicate that this year will not see the return of Splatoween, the Halloween-themed Splatfest previously played in Splatoon 2. The skipping of the holiday Splatfest may prove a problem for Splatoon 3 fans with fond memories of the event’s past incarnations.
The apparent lack of a Splatoween in the works may prove to be a disappointment for some long-time Splatoon fans who were looking forward to seeing the event. However, it must also be said that this event is a rare opportunity for fans of both Splatoon 3 and Pokémon. With Pokémon Scarlet and Violet set to release November 18, this will be a great way to both celebrate the upcoming games and build up hype. It will be very interesting to see how many fans of each Starter will fight in the upcoming Splatfest, and many will doubtlessly be eager to see which Type comes out on top in the end.
